As Director of PICUM, Michele has led the organization for nearly two decades in advocating for undocumented migrants’ human rights towards European and global institutions. Michele has played a key role as board member for several civil society organisations at the global and EU levels. She holds degrees in French, Justice and Peace Studies and a Master in Applied Sciences (Housing and Development).

Alyna joined PICUM in 2015. Until 2021, she led PICUM’s advocacy on access to health care and access to justice for undocumented people. Alyna has a background in law, bioethics, and the life sciences.

Lilana joined PICUM in 2011. She has been involved in work to advance migrants’ rights since 2009, including through community development and funding. She has an academic background in international and European migration law and policy and anthropology.

Laetitia joined PICUM in 2019. She has worked on human rights and migration on the national and global level since 2010. Laetitia has degrees in psychology, anthropology and conflict and development studies and was a Rotary Peace Fellow at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, and a Munk Fellow in Global Journalism at the University of Toronto, Canada.

Marta joined PICUM in 2019. She previously worked on migration and access to social protection for the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and on human rights defenders protection for the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT). She holds a Master in Laws and a MSc in Migration, Mobility and Development.

Dastan joined PICUM in 2022. He has previous experience advocating for the rights of survivors of torture in legislative and policy processes at the national, regional and international level. He has worked on supporting migrant rights in Europe since 2013 and holds an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies.

- Hilmi TekogluADVOCACY TRAINEE - Migration Policy, Children, Youth and Families
Hilmi joined PICUM in February 2022. He has previous experience working in the Strengthening Asylum in Cyprus project implemented in partnership with UNHCR and collaborating with civil society organisations in the field of asylum seekers and refugees. He holds a master’s degree in International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University. He also acquired full year exchange programme in Leiden University.

- Miriam SabjalyADVOCACY TRAINEE - Health, Justice and Labour
Miriam joined PICUM in March 2022. She has an academic background in law and previously worked as a political advisor in the Portuguese Parliament. Miriam has experience in providing legal support to migrants who have been victims of crime, as well as to victims of specific crimes, such as human trafficking, female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage, hate crimes and discrimination.

- Olena SamarADVOCACY TRAINEE - Migration Policy, Children, Youth and Families
Olena joined PICUM in March 2022. She holds a degree in International Education and currently finishing her Master’s degree in International Relations. She has experience assisting asylum seekers and refugees to enter higher education as part of the Student Refugees project in Iceland. She also worked on research projects related to migration policies and migrants’ access to education.

Marina joined PICUM in march 2022. She previously worked on communications and event management, and has worked also on the analysis of narratives produced around migration. She holds a bachelor degree in Journalism and is currently studying a master’s degree in Human Rights.
