Traineeships

We are committed to offering opportunities for young people to support PICUM’s work and receive training on migrants’ rights and EU social policy, and strive to offer a program which is both fair and inclusive. We are currently seeking additional support to be able to offer these conditions. Please stay posted – we will update this page when we have news on it!

Partnerships with universities

If you teach or coordinate internships at a university offering relevant programmes such as migration studies, European studies, law, human rights, communications, etc., we invite you to approach us to assess what the possibilities could be.

Collaboration in the context of an academic degree

If you need to acquire practical experience to complete part of your degree (e.g. in depth analysis of a policy area; carrying out research on a specific topic; project management or communications, etc.), please write to info@picum.org, explaining the degree you are pursuing, the conditions around the work experience needed and your thematic interest in our work.

Volunteering

We welcome volunteers to support our work remotely, depending on their availabilities. Key activities that volunteers can support include:

• Translations and proofreading: if your knowledge of English is excellent (C1), or if you already have professional translation experience, you may support us as a volunteer translator. Volunteers only translate into their native language and usually translate analysis, reports, subtitles or conference agendas. Longer documents are generally divided among several volunteers. Volunteers may also be asked to proofread a translated document in their native language to make sure that the language and terminology are correct. 
• News gathering: we regularly monitor news on specific topics, and welcome the help of volunteers to gather national news.
• Research: If you are a researcher in the field of migration, we would be happy to hear more about your research and to see if there are possibilities for cooperation.
• Support to our members: our members may need ad-hoc support on research, translation, event organisation, or other kinds of online or in-person support.

Depending on your personal skills and interests, you are welcome to also suggest other ways in which you think you can support undocumented migrants’ rights.
