“Using Legal Strategies to Enforce Undocumented Migrants Human Rights”
PICUM’s Annual Workshop entitled “Using Legal Strategies to Enforce Undocumented Migrants Human Rights” will take place on Friday, 15th June 2012 at the International Auditorium, 5 Boulevard du Roi Albert II, 1210 Brussels, Belgium.
This workshop seeks to consolidate the work of PICUM’s success in promoting awareness about undocumented migrants’ fundamental rights by exploring and promoting the use of legal avenues to uphold these rights. Examining current trends in the legal protection of undocumented migrants, the event will showcase legal judgements which have enforced applicability of their rights under various legislative frameworks. In addition to highlighting ways to engage with national legislation, the programme will explore opportunities to engage with regional and international standards.Intended for those keen to deepen their knowledge of the legally judiciable rights of undocumented migrants, the event will also appeal to activists seeking avenues to improve their defence of these rights.
Gathering frontline service providers, legal experts, and representatives from key monitoring and reporting bodies, participants will be invited to explore strategies through which to advance undocumented migrants rights at national, regional and international levels. This conference will guarantee a rich participation of experts and professionals working with undocumented migrants across the European Union and beyond.
